The Second Ring Road 2049 is a bold vision to transform Beijing's second Ring Road into a park, confronting the city's current lack of public cultural facilities. Our research begins with the history of the Second Ring Road in Beijing - the ancient walls and moats that represented defense and closure, before being replaced by expressways and subways; At present, it is the "first block" in the capital, cutting the fabric of the city. The change of the Second Ring Road has always been closely related to the urban development of Beijing and even China. In the context of today's global environmental crisis and China's rise as a world leader, what might the future of the Second Ring Road be? In the Second Ring Road 2049 project, we are trying to explore some reasonable solutions to transform an inefficient and highly polluted area into a clean, green and vibrant urban space.
